OUR PROCESS
RESEARCH
Field of Dreams committee began meeting in 2015. Ideas and designs were drafted by WSA's "Field of Dreams" committee. Then studies and site visits were conducted to draw on best practices within the U.S. in the space of youth sports facilities. Extensive research, notes, ideas, and draft forms landed on a tentative plan.
CONCEPT
Approximate to 2021 WSA began working with Carl Szafranski, the founder and owner of Szafranski Landscape Architecture.
Carl worked with the WSA Field of Dreams Committee to deliver a rendering of a concept of the Field of Dreams. This concept married the ideas generated from research, with Carl's vast knowledge of production of renderings of spaces in and throughout the Tulsa area for years. In addition Carl brought the unique insight and perspective of a soccer player, and a soccer parent, with years of experience touring the best facilities in the U.S.
The concept produced by Carl is a "best of best" concept for a youth sports facility. It blends every imaginable outdoor recreational activity, into the existing resources of the current West Bank Sports Complex. The facility design is integrated into the Arkansas River development corridor, particularly the West Bank of the Arkansas River and the River Parks Authority Trail System.
The creation and innovative thought includes interfacing with the current use of the space for fishing, jogging, biking, event parking, and court and field sports. There is a food court, a food truck plaza, a playground, state of the art restrooms and concessions, lighted space, and literally miles of available shaded space for patrons during the hot Oklahoma summers and on the rainy days in the Spring.
The concept was complete and rendered available to the public, revealed in February 2023 at WSA's first annual Legacy Night.

FEASIBILITY
In 2024 WSA teamed up with Tencate Sports. Tencate sports was able to provide a pathway to "world-class" sports technology, including sports surfaces, and lighting. Tencate Sports helped link in Synergy Sports Global, who WSA hired to execute a feasibility study. This study was completed in late Fall 2024. The study produced an abundance of evidence that the Field of Dreams21 design and concept would be successful, and beneficial to the Tulsa community, with an overall estimated economic impact of $20 Million by the 4th year of operation, including a $1.6 Million direct tax benefit to the City of Tulsa.
FUNDING
In 2025 WSA received a commitment for a financier to finance the project in entirety. This is currently an unsecured commitment. The total estimated cost of construction and pre-construction cost for the Field of Dreams21 project is $55 Million.
ENDOWMENT
Field of Dreams21 is currently seeking pledges towards generating a $10MM endowment. This endowment is a critical next step, that could likely allow the project to begin construction phase.
GUARANTOR
Field of Dreams21 is seeking a guarantor to secure the financing that is now available to the project. In an effort to generate a funding model that is sensible, and mitigates risk, and ensures success, the $10MM Endowment is currently a prerequisite to this step.
USER AGREEMENT TERMS
Tulsa Field Sports Alliance (managed by WSA Soccer) is creating a community based user agreement with landowner Tulsa River Parks Authority. The user agreement will ensure the facility is a multi-sport, community based platform, to serve as a local destination for weekday activities, and a regional and national tourism destination for weekend events. This helps sustain the vision of Field of Dreams21 into the year 2100. This secures the Vision for the facility by the original FOD Committee.
CONSTRUCTION
Tulsa Field Sports Alliance will begin construction as the next action step. The steps leading to the groundbreaking moment of RESEARCH to CONCEPT to FEASIBILITY to FUNDING to ENDOWMENT to GUARANTOR to USER AGREEMENT TERMS to CONSTRUCTION have been meticulous and vetted by the best in the industry space, with best practices applied each step.
