OUR STORY

Our Vision
Develop community engagement along the Arkansas River in Tulsa by building a state-of-the-art multipurpose recreation facility on the oft neglected West Bank.  Engage the Red Fork District of Tulsa, by bringing to life a jewel of an asset that resides between Downtown Tulsa and Tulsa Hills.
The “Field of Dreams” will become a hub of local activity via the new Williams Pedestrian Bridge, the proximity to the Gathering Place, and the intersection of the River Parks Trail system.

Our Mantra – “Build the Best”
When the Field of Dreams committee came together for brainstorming sessions, a mission was agreed to, which became the mantra: “Build the Best”.  The objective grew from a vision of a soccer facility, and a sports facility, to a sustainable, legacy, transformative build.  Build the best… facility.  Build the best… community. Build the best… future.  Build the best… facility.

With the mantra in mind, every detail of the facility was contemplated, from ingress to egress, to number of sinks in restrooms, to transition space between fields and courts.  With safety was a priority,  in-ground lightning detectors, AED stations, facility wide communication devices, were all part of the detailed plan and design.

Sustainable Model FOD 21
The sustainable model concept grew from the “Build the Best” mantra.  The Field of Dreams team, aptly named FOD, developed a logo, FOD21, to remind the visionaries, that the facility would live into the future, through sustainable financial modeling, consideration of facility internal infrastructure to withstand climate, cutting edge technology, and environmentally friendly constructs.  The budget includes an endowment for deferred maintenance, including turf replacement.  No further fundraising will be needed to maintain and sustain the facility into the next 50-100 years.

Facility Design
The facility is designed for multi-use with every field sport contemplated, from baseball, soccer, and football, to rugby, ultimate frisbee, lacrosse, and cricket, to futsal, pickleball, volleyball, and basketball.  A hub for local outdoor activists, every opportunity to “play” will reside here, from cycling and fishing, to running and court sports, to every imaginable field sport.

The facility is designed with over 20 acres of synthetic turf, 8 multi-purpose courts, 12 lighted fields, 800+ parking spaces, 4,000 square feet of multi-purpose indoor buildings, modernized restrooms, over 1,000 linear feet of shade structures, a food court plaza, a food truck plaza, cycling racks, playgrounds, EV stations, and more.

Destination Location
The Field of Dreams will become a state-of-the-art event hosting center for the City of Tulsa.  The facility design was crafted with the mantra “build the best”.

The asset will sit between downtown Tulsa and Tulsa Hills.  The location paired with the facility design will become a regional and national destination for large events, such as ultimate frisbee tournaments, soccer tournaments, cycling events, and more.

About Us
Tulsa Field Sports Alliance (TFSA) was founded in 2010 by West Side Alliance Soccer (WSA) and Tulsa Ultimate Federation Ultimate Frisbee (TUF).  TFSA managed by WSA Soccer has over a decade of history in collaborating to share field resources.  This novel concept won an RFP in 2012 to manage the West Bank Sports Complex.  Within 6 months of co-managing, TFSA turned a once nearly dormant land space into one of Oklahoma’s most active park destinations.

The Field of Dreams team met first in 2014.  Via years of renderings of various designs, the group intersected Szafranski Landscape Architecture in 2020.  The renderings were consolidated, scrutinized, contemplated, and a final rendering produced in 2022. In February, 2023 the design was revealed at WSA Soccer’s Legacy Night.  The reveal included a $17MM pre-pledged commitment to the $50MM+ contemplated build budget.

Legacy Stuff
The design includes a maintenance plan, developed by former facility operators from University campuses, an endowment, to sustain deferred maintenance, including turf replacement for at least 50 years, with no new fundraising required.

Expansion phases are built into the design, such that the original design can flex to become more. Safety, ingress, egress and prioritized conveniences of parking, restrooms, lights, food, were all high priorities, to ensure the facility is built to last, endure, and serve future generations.
Thus, you will see the logo intending to remind our team of the Legacy purpose, FOD21. The “21” reminding us, the Field of Dreams will be built to live into the 22nd Century.
